Aggelos 2, the long-awaited sequel to the retro action-platformer classic, is making a grand return. We are proud to announce, alongside our partner PQube and the talented Wonderboy Bobi.

This new chapter that will transform the series’ 8-bit legacy into an ambitious 16-bit epic, staying true to its DNA while pushing innovation forward.

A Graphical and Mechanical Evolution at the Core

While the first Aggelos paid homage to the 8-bit masterpieces of the late 80s, Aggelos 2 takes a decisive step by embracing stunning 16-bit pixel art. This aesthetic upgrade is more than a visual overhaul; it reflects our commitment to enhancing classic Metroidvania mechanics with new layers of gameplay depth.

The major innovation lies in a dual-realm system, allowing players to switch in real-time between the powers of Light and Darkness. This mechanic directly influences exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving: every transformation alters how you interact with environments and enemies. The overlay of these two worlds, linked to your Angel and Demon forms, creates a dynamic experience where anticipation and quick reflexes are your best allies.

Aggelos 2 is not just a sequel: it’s a true evolution designed to reward long-time fans while attracting a new generation of players.

An Epic Adventure Between Light and Darkness

The story plunges you into the realm of Lumen, under imminent threat from the Army of Darkness. You play as an Aggelos, the highest rank among angels, sent by the god Balro to restore cosmic balance. Your journey will take you through two overlapping planes of existence, each reacting differently based on your form:

Angel Form: slower but precise movements, absorption of light projectiles, activation of Light-based mechanisms, defensive gameplay.
Demon Form: fast and powerful, capable of destroying shadow barriers, aggressive and intense combat style.

This transformation system is at the heart of the battles, especially against the 13 colossal bosses along your path. Each encounter demands agility, strategy, and perfect timing.

Rewarding and Strategic Progression

As you progress, you will collect Orbs, the essential currency to enhance your abilities. Dashes, wall-jumps, flight, and devastating special attacks: every new skill unlocks fresh exploration opportunities and enriches your combat strategies.

The acquisition of these powers, combined with the use of magical potions, amplifies the sense of empowerment. The world of Aggelos 2 is packed with secrets and challenges that will reward the most dedicated players.

Physical Editions and Expected Release

Aggelos 2 will be available in 2026 as a digital release on PC, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Collectors will be thrilled to know that limited physical editions will also be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

These physical editions, true collector’s items, will come with exclusive goodies and packaging that pays tribute to the iconic box designs of the 90s.
